My name is Carey Schmidt, and I am an Associate Professional Counselor at Broad Oaks Counseling. I enjoy working with mostly children and adolescents who may be feeling anxious, depressed, or simply going through a tough time. I view counseling as a partnership where both the client and counselor work together to achieve the goals that the client sets for themselves, and I am always excited and try my best to help those goals come to fruition.
I started at Broad Oaks Counseling in August 2021 while obtaining my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Rehabilitation, which I received in August 2022. I primarily align myself and my practices with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I do a lot of Play Therapy with both children and teens. I chose counseling after my own journey, and I always dream of being the counselor that I needed when I was younger and needed help.
